First Keynotes Announced for In The City 2008

We are delighted to announce that government minister Andy Burnham MP, the Culture Secretary, will outline his position on some of the key challenges currently facing the UK music industry and will be offering In The City delegates the chance to question him on those major issues that directly affect their businesses. As the key person in the current Government as far as the music industry is concerned, we are delighted that Andy Burnham will be coming to In The City 2008 to outline his vision for the music business.

Legendary Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham will also be a keynote speaker at this year's ITC, as well as being our first ever official 'host’ - “Tony Wilson fitted into the finest pair of dancing shoes this side of anything. Rock, Bop or bother. Tony was a passionate leader extraordinaire. I am honoured that Yvette and the ITC team are lending me a pair of his master's shoes and inviting me to dance at this year's event.”

In The City 2008 will take place on October 5th, 6th and 7th, at The Midland hotel in Manchester England and at venues across the city.

Full details of the bands, keynotes and panels that make up this year’s event will be released over the coming weeks, but already it’s clear this year’s ITC will feature more bands and more showcases than ever before. As well as the best-unsigned bands in the world, ITC will be showcasing new, just-signed talent from across the globe and holding special events by some well-known established acts – giving Manchester a true city-based festival of music and much more.
