TWO NEW PANELS ANNOUNCED

MORE PANEL ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are delighted to announce two more panels for this year’s In The City.

MAKING THE LAW – THE AUTHOR PANEL

How do you write about rock n roll? If you can remember your era you weren’t there, or so they say. For these guys, their words become the folklore of the times they lived. Like the quote says “when it comes to choosing between printing the truth or the legend - print the legend”, but if people take that as gospel where do your responsibilities lie?

Entertain or educate – easy to do one, hard to do both. So how did this lot do it?

Featuring:
John Robb The North Will Rise Again - Manchester Music City, Moderator
John Niven Kill Your Friends
Andrew Collins That's Me in the Corner - Adventures of an Ordinary Boy in a Celebrity World
Mark Hodkinson Queen The Early Years
Peter Hook The Hacienda – How Not to Run A Club
Pete Frame Rock Family Trees

DUTY OF CARE PANEL

The pressure of fame, the pressure of business, and the pressure to deliver hits and keep the whole machine moving – sometimes it can just plain get too much. From Syd Barrett to Richey Edwards and beyond, this most challenging of industries can and does take a person down. So how can those of us working with artists fulfil a duty of care? How to learn to say no, to say it’s too much and to say they need help? Artists aren’t just figures on a bottom line, the whole machine around an artist has a moral duty to protect those in their charge. Look after them and they’ll look after you, right?

Featuring:
Marc Marot CEO, SEG International Moderator
Darcus Beese Co-President, Island Records
Colin Lester Managing Director CLM Entertainment
Jonathan Morrish Director of Communications, PPL (ex CBS/Sony)
David Gilmour Director, Recover Now
Chris Difford Recording Artist, Squeeze

ITC UNSIGNED 2009

After much agonising, wailing and the occasional gnashing of teeth we’ve arrived at the final list. The ones who we think you’ll be hearing a hell of a lot more from over the next few years.

You can hear them in all their glory on the ITC Unsigned Album 2009, available from tomorrow on iTunes and via various other fine digital retailers.

Delegates remember, you get a code for your copy, which we’ll be mailing out to you the week before ITC.

REGISTER FOR ITC

To register as a delegate for In The City for £350 plus VAT click here.

We’re doing day passes as well this year, which you can also find here, but don’t forget you’ll need a wristband for the live gigs if you go down this route. Conveniently, you can find those here - though if you’re getting a full delegate pass don’t worry about that.

Keynotes confirmed so far include: Mike Smith, Mark Ronson, John Harris, Anthony Volodkin, Sean Adams, Simon Raymonde, Pat Nevin, Gered Mankowitz as well as speakers from Seatwave, Soundcloud, Songkick and many, many more.
